The Crank: Needs Athletics/Strength or Engineering/Intelligence - cumulative TN40, reduces The Gate TN by 20
The Incantation: Needs four raises called across successful attempts, raises not limited - Spellcraft/Intelligence or Calligraphy(Cipher)/Intelligence - TN15, Reduces The Gate TN by 20
The Shogi: Needs Investigation/Perception or Battle(Skirmish)/Perception - cumulative TN40, reduces The Gate TN by 20
The Mirror: Forgery/Agility or Acting/Awareness vs opposed roll of the same including personal bonuses but not including helper phantom ranks - Reduces The Gate TN by 15
The Portrait: Games: Sadane/Awareness or Lore: History/Intelligence - TN40 but reduces by 5 each attempt, reduces The Gate TN by 20
The Fighting: Kenjutsu/Agility ('combat') - TN15, but not beaten until 50 wounds dealt, reduces The Gate TN by 15
The Gate: Needs Sleight of Hand/Agility or Commerce/Intelligence - TN120 minus any reductions
We have 18 time units across four people. Benefits for completing it with only 15 or 11 time units
Anyone can use a time unit to assist another character - giving them a phantom skill rank.
Dai is well suited for Shogi (7k3) and has 4k3 for Crank rolls
After that he has Intelligence at 4 and all other pertinent traits at 3 but no skill so would either need to be given a phantom rank or use his time slot to give ranks to others.
My intention for the first round is have him take a crack at Shogi unless someone has a much better dice pool because a lucky roll might break it in one.

The Crank Puzzle must have a set TN, rather than a Cumulative TN, so going for TN40 will actually result in a fail rather than contributing 38 to the TN40. For some reason I thought I had taken at least one rank in kenjutsu but apparently not. So I won't be great help fighting.
I'll take a crack at The Portrait - I'm unskilled but with the canteen there's a slim chance of success on a 5k5 and, if not, it will lower the TN for the next person.
After that I'll either keep trying on it or add a skill to someone else if they need it

Looks like Koroshi has Lore: History so he should be able to finish off the portrait this round on his action. If so do we try to finish one more or start pumping for the gate?
For the gate Intelligence makes the most sense due to the mental quickness buff unless someone has Agility 5 or lots of Sleight of Hand.
If Koroshi finishes the portrait this turn, and we decide to tackle the gate, it makes the most sense to target him with the phantom skill boosts since I have to act again before the next round (so can boost him).
Then it's just about how many ranks of skill we want to give him versus time units left versus the TN.
